“Everybody has a chapter they don’t read out loud.”

Often, the most profound work on ourselves can be done through the presence or reflection of another.  While we are deeply connected to each other, the task of connection can often be so painful and trying.  From my perspective, the work of being in therapy is more than a focused pursuit of what is ailing us, but rather the live experience of working on that connection to the other, and in doing so, working on our connection to ourselves.

Whether you are seeking help around specific difficulties or are experiencing a more general sense of stagnation or confusion, therapy can be a useful tool to see yourself differently, and in that process, see your struggles differently.  I'm interested in creating a space that makes this type of healing accessible and relevant to people across different realms of experience, especially those that inhabit marginalized spaces.  The social structure and health care system have failed so many of us, and I try to address and combat these shortcomings by creating an aware, non-judgmental, and productive space for people of varying backgrounds and needs.

My therapeutic style is extremely down to earth, but also takes a deeply nuanced theory-driven view of emotional and mental patterns as they relate to past and present experiences and relationships.  An effective therapy relationship should give us insights that we could not easily come to on our own.  While the work comes from within, I believe it should also offer something beyond ourselves.

While I work with individuals around a range of concerns, I specialize in trauma, queer experience, gender identity, kink/BDSM, polyamory and open relationships, and the experiences of people of color.  In session, I utilize a number of perspectives including Existential, Psychoanalytic, and Feminist Theories to build a unique therapeutic relationship tailored to each client's needs.
